It is maufactured and distributed by MarkOne Composites, an Indianapolis-based carbon fiber company. The Glide Plate attaches to the head-and-neck restraint system and allows the driver's head and neck to slide unobstructed against the headrest to help prevent injury during rear impacts. The Glide Plate is approved for use by all drivers in the IndyCar Series and is also worn by many sports car drivers.
