Grattan (Short) Review

For a change, we left 787 at the shop and raced 786 this weekend.

786’s chassis is superb and it’s one torquey little beast–for a Honda–very different from old faithful 787. For an added bit of drama, this writer suffered a major ankle sprain earlier in the week and wasn’t expecting to race, but one hit of Celebrex got him ready for race action.

In race one Saturday, we crossed the line first, but got a DQ for what would otherwise be considered a racing incident. Other people considered it a punt, but if we were going to punt another car with intent, we’d punt it out of the race.

After a complete gong show of a start in race two, we found a 7-second deficit and didn’t think we could pull it off.  We knocked off laps a half second faster than the leader and passed for the lead on the second-to-last lap.

It also looks like we’ve earned another track record.

Race Our Car At Grattan June 5-6, 2009

We have one seat available in our #787 race-winning and championship-leading car for the upcoming NASA Grattan race on June 5-6, which features tons of seat time and 3 sprint races.

This car holds track records at Mid-Ohio and Putnam Park.

This is a complete arrive-and-drive weekend, from help with membership/licence through to vehicle prep, we look after it all.
